OUR IMPACT

Every Donation Makes A Difference

In our work in International Baseball, we support baseball-specific and general humanitarian issues that present themselves.

Club Ozoria Boca Chica Batting Cage Gets A New Roof

The batting cage in Boca Chica had a roof that needed to be replaced.

With financial support from the coaching staff at Webster University we were able to arrange materials and labor to put a new roof on the batting cage-providing local players a place to practice when it rains.

The Webster University program is a long-time member of our community. We have hosted them for three foreign tours in the Dominican Republic.

Education Support For Young Man From Gautier Village

With financial support from the University of Tampa Baseball program and coach Joe Urso, we are sponsoring an 11 year old boy, Riberto, from the village of Gautier. Coach Urso met Riberto when his Tampa team was in the Dominican Republic and painted a house in his village.

Due to his undocumented status, Riberto was ineligible to attend local schools.

We were able to provide funds to get him into school, get him school clothes and supplies, and arrange a tutor for him to get caught up academically.

This is an underfunded orphanage in the Santo Domingo area that houses around 30 boys and girls.

This project is done in collaboration with the Kansas City Royals and Royals’ Director, Jeff Diskin.

Annual Christmas Parade

With annual financial support from Former Tufts University Head Coach, John Casey, we have held an annual parade through the village of Gautier since 2019.

This parade, usually the Saturday prior to Christmas, includes Santa Claus and 300 bags of candy that are distributed by volunteers from Baseball Without Borders.

This is a village that we are aware of because our American groups play baseball at their field and often paint houses in the village.

A healthy smile for a young woman in a small village of the Dominican Republic.

A Healthy Smile For Estefany

Estefany is a 23 year old woman who lives in the village of Gautier, where we often play baseball games and do service work.

She is the sister of a local baseball player. She had severe deterioration of her teeth that we were able to get repaired.

She is no longer ashamed to smile.

Baseball Without Borders awards scholarships to baseball players in the Dominican Republic.

Educational Scholarships

We have arranged for over 10 baseball players from the Dominican Republic to come to college in the United States and one player to come to high school.

These scholarships provide players with the opportunity to significantly improve their opportunities in life.

Colleges included: College of Marin; Mid-America Nazare; Kansas Christian College, Southeast Arkansas Community College and Florida National University

Backstop

A new league carved a baseball field out of the brush that enabled kids to play without crossing a busy highway. The new field was build by the hard work of the locals and a generous donation from benefactor, Joe Diskin, who sponsored the backstop.

Uniforms for Banica

Banica is located in the province of Elias Pina which is one of the poorest provinces in the country. For most of the kids, it is their first new uniform that they have ever worn.

Housing

A grant from the Diskin Family helped purchase building materials for Dominican Groundskeepers at the KC Royals academy to build their houses.

English Classes

People in the Dominican Republic who know how to speak English have an advantage when it comes to finding jobs. We are helping to prepare these girls for a better future down the road. Thank you to the Grosdidier Family for their support in this initiative.

These girls are sisters who are the daughters of the KC Royals Dominican Academy groundskeeper. They lost their mother to cancer and we are trying to give them opportunities.

New Beds for Orphanage

The mattresses and bed sheets at Casa Amor replaced the worn and soiled mattresses and bedsheets that they were currently using. This was made possible by a donation from the Diskin Family.

The Casa Amor Orphanage is sponsored in partnership with the Kansas City Royals Dominican Academy.

Barrio Laura-School Supplies

At the start of the school year we provided school supplies (backpacks, lunchboxes, notebooks…) for 100 children in the sugar cane community of Barrio Laura.

We have become familiar with this village through Onil Joseph, KC Royals coach who is from the area.

Medical Assistance for Sophia

Medical Services for Sophia who was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor that needed to be removed.

Sophia is a cook at the Casa Amor Orphanage that we jointly support with the KC Royals and Jeff Diskin

BASEBALL AMBASSADORS

After graduating from college, our baseball ambassadors donate a year of their time (like the Peace Corps) to introduce, promote, and develop baseball in a country that it previously has not been a popular sport.
